In General

Trap Quest generates a different room layout every time a new game is loaded. Fainting causes any NPCs sharing the room with the player to leave and the player will stay in the room they fainted in. and, if enabled, each time the player faints.

If the player selects the "Wake Up Lost Again" handicap, every other room is reset, which means all "messes" are clean, all items are removed, all traps either removed or changed, and all containers reset. Any items they left in the pink wardrobe will remain there until the player can find their way to find their way back through the dungeon to pick them up. Some rooms contain special furniture which persists through resets, such as the Throne Room, and other rooms have a specific layout when it comes to chests or basic containers, such as basic containers.

Some rooms have a set door layout, and some do not. Rooms with a flexible layout will have as many doors as possible. That is to say, if a room is surrounded by four other rooms, and none of them have a set layout, that room will always have four doors. Likewise, a room with a set layout will only "create doors" if another room is touching them in a valid spot.

Room Flags

Here is what various flags listed below mean:

  • Important means that it has a high value item container in the room (e.g. chest or safe). These rooms (and containers) can be trapped, unless it also has the flag untrappable.
  • Mandatory means that it will always appear in the region - if the game randomises a layout that doesn't include this room, it throws it all out and starts again.
  • Standard means that it will have normal item container(s) and potentially be trapped.
  • Pinned means that it always appears at the same map coordinates, and is not randomised like the rest of the region.
  • Urinals, toilets and water body refers to places that the player can safely urinate without creating a mess, and water body rooms can also be used to clean clothes and face and hair, or even fully swim and bathe in.

Dungeon Region

The dungeon is the starting area of the game. The player can find treasure chests, sacks, and both metal and wooden crates in this area, and unique NPCs include the Shopkeeper (Trap Quest). Common NPCs in this area are the Aeromancer (Trap Quest), Gladiator (Trap Quest), Royal Guard, Sex Doll, and Wench.

This area contains the sacred pool, which the player can wash in to clean up, or remove a curse from a piece of clothing, and it contains the mansion shop, which offers rare items that can only be paid for in a special way. It is a unique area in that the layout is the same from game to game, and there are no containers or traps, and the NPCs are nearly always passive. Instead, it allows the player to visit the region every now and then, to partake in regular lessons in order to gain an increased student 'rank' which allows the player to access more rooms inside the region and take part in lessons with lewder and lewder themes. There's also a secret dungeon that is home to Original Princess, who can be saved via a rescue mission. When the princess is saved, the staff members are all permanently defeated, and no more lessons can be taken.

Details of the teachers and their lessons can be found from their respective NPC pages.
